SOBRE O AUTOR

Alexander Pushkin

Escritor russo, nascido em 1799 e falecido em 1837, cujas qualidades poéticas desde cedo se manifestaram, tendo alcançado o reconhecimento público em 1820 com o poema "Ruslan e Ludmila", uma exaltação da cultura medieval russa. Enquanto poeta, Pushkin fazia uso de expressões e lendas populares, marcando os seus versos com a riqueza e diversidade do idioma russo. Devido às suas ideias progressistas, foi desterrado, viajando, entre 1820 e 1824, pelo sul do Império Russo. No decurso deste período, compôs diversos poemas de influência byroniana, de entre os quais se destacam "O prisioneiro do Cáucaso", "A fonte de Baktchisarai" e "Os ciganos". No entanto, não deixou de inovar, introduzindo elementos realistas, o que o levou a designar o seu estilo como "romantismo realista". Escreveu um romance em verso, "Yevgeni Onegin" , um retrato panorâmico da vida russa e que constituiu o ponto de partida para o romance realista russo do século XIX; publicou o drama histórico "Boris Gudonov" , em que evidencia a influência de Shakespeare. Em 1826, recebeu o perdão do imperador, regressando a Moscovo. Dois anos depois, escreveu "Poltav" , uma epopeia que narra a história de amor do cossaco Mazeppa. Cultivando, cada vez mais, a prosa, alcançou grande sucesso com obras como "Contos de Belkin" , "A Dama de Espadas" e "A Filha do Capitão" .
