SOBRE O AUTOR
Alberto Manguel
Alberto Manguel (1948, Buenos Aires) cresceu em Telavive e na Argentina, e adotou a nacionalidade canadiana em 1982. Aos 16 anos, trabalhava na livraria Pygmalion, em Buenos Aires, quando Jorge Luis Borges lhe pediu que lesse para ele em sua casa. Foi leitor de Borges entre 1964 e 1968. Em 1968, mudouse para a Europa. Viveu em Espanha, França, Itália e Inglaterra, ganhando a vida como leitor e tradutor para várias editoras. Editou cerca de uma dezena de antologias de contos sobre temas tão díspares como o fantástico ou a literatura erótica. É ensaísta, romancista premiado e autor de vários bestsellers internacionais, como Dicionário de Lugares Imaginários, Uma História da Curiosidade, A Biblioteca à Noite, Embalando a Minha Biblioteca, Com Borges, Uma História da Leitura e Um Diário de Leituras (publicados pela Tinta da china entre 2013 e 2022). Publicou em Portugal, em estreia mundial, o Livro de Receitas dos Lugares Imaginários (2021) e Guia de Um Perplexo em Portugal (2022). Foi diretor da Biblioteca Nacional da Argentina entre 2016 e 2018. Recebeu o Prémio Formentor das Letras em 2017. Atualmente, vive em Lisboa, onde dirige o Espaço Atlântida.
