Viktor E. Frankl

Viktor E. Frankl foi o fundador da escola psicoterapêutica chamada «Logoterapia e Análise Existencial», que é considerada por muitos autores como a «terceira escola de psicoterapia vienense», depois da Psicanálise de Sigmund Freud e da «Psicologia Individual» de Alfred Adler. É um dos autores e clínicos mais proeminentes da história da Psicoterapia e autor de algumas das reflexões mais originais sobre a condição humana. De origem judaica, nasceu em 1905 em Viena, tendo-se interessado desde muito cedo por Psiquiatria e Psicoterapia. Formou-se em Medicina na Universidade de Viena e especializou-se em Neurologia e Psiquiatria. Em 1942, Viktor Frankl, a mulher, Tilly, o irmão, Walter, e os pais, Gabriel e Elsa, foram presos e deportados para o gueto de Theresienstadt e mais tarde para Auschwitz. Os únicos sobreviventes foram Viktor Frankl e a irmã, Stella. Após a guerra, Viktor Frankl regressou a Viena, à prática psicoterapêutica e à carreira de docência universitária. Os seus livros conheceram um tremendo sucesso internacional, e foi Professor Convidado em universidades de todo o mundo.
