Eu gostei de ler este livro pela trama e pela personagem Berta Isla. Sofremos com ela e percebemos la tão bem no entanto o livro é muito longo e a ação não se justifica as 500 e tal páginas. Li-o todo mas não se justifica tanta página .

SOBRE O AUTOR
Javier Marías
Javier Marías (1951-2022), nasceu em Madrid.
Foi um dos mais destacados escritores espanhóis dos últimos cinquenta anos.
A sua obra encontra-se publicada em 46 idiomas e 59 países, com cerca de dez milhões de exemplares vendidos em todo o mundo.
Escreveu dezasseis romances, vários livros de contos e de ensaio, a maioria dos quais publicados em Portugal pela Alfaguara: Tomás Nevinson, Berta Isla (Prémio da Crítica), Assim começa o mal, Os enamoramentos (Prémio Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa; Prémio Qué Leer), Coração tão branco (Prémio da Crítica; Prix l’Oeil et la Letre; IMPAC Dublin Literary Award), Amanhã na batalha pensa em mim (Prémio Fastenrath; Prémio Rómulo Gallegos; Prix Fémina Étranger), Todas as almas, a trilogia O teu rosto amanhã, e o volume de contos Não mais amores.
Pelo conjunto da sua obra, recebeu vários prémios e distinções:
Prémio Nelly Sachs (Dortmund, 1997); Prémio Comunidad de Madrid (1998); Prémio Grinzane Cavour (Turim, 2000); Prémio Alberto Moravia (Roma, 2000); Prémio Alessio (Turim, 2008), Prémio José Donoso (Chile, 2008); The America Award (2010) Prémio Nonino (Udine, 2011); Prémio Literário Europeu (2011); Prémio Formentor (2013); Prémio Boattari Lattes Grinzane (2015); Premio Liber (2017).
Entre as traduções de sua autoria, destaca-se Tristram Shandy (Prémio Nacional de Tradução em Espanha, 1979).
Foi professor na Universidade de Oxford e na Universidade Complutense de Madrid.
Foi, até à sua morte, membro da Real Academia Espanhola e em 2021 foi eleito membro internacional da Royal Society of Literature, a organização de beneficência do Reino Unido para a promoção da literatura.
Morreu em setembro de 2022, dias antes de completar setenta e um anos, deixando como legado aos seus leitores uma obra extraordinária, que perdurará no tempo.
