ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Elisabete Gonçalves

Born in Rio de Janeiro in the 1960s, she came to Portugal by decision of her parents, who, in her tender childhood, decided to return to the north of the country, where they were originally from. Her dream of writing was inspired by the late Professor Manuel Canito during her adolescence.

He completed his entire academic career in the Porto district, where he learned to love the land and its people as his own. Graduating in History (with a specialization in art), he immediately began teaching History at the tertiary and secondary levels.

She was always able to adapt to the various challenges her profession presented, and, in this wandering through various areas, she found herself involved, captivated, by literary education and work in school libraries, especially with younger students. She had, however, moved to Aveiro.

It was contact with the first cycle of elementary education that rekindled the desire to write. The short story emerged as a natural way to engage children and young people, leading them to dream, to travel through their imagination, and to develop a fascination with books.

His first short story was published in the magazine. "Essential" of Sol Newspaper, in June 2010, having more recently published others in Aveiro Daily.
