Georgette Heyer (1902-1974) began writing the in 1921, when he transformed into novel a story he had invented to entertain a convalescent brother. Inspired by the work of Jane Austen, she became known for the care of his historical research, thanks to which he established herself as the great precursor of the novel history of the Regency period.
