Li este livro há já algum tempo, mas não quero deixar de, mais uma vez, testemunhar uma literatura que não nos deixa indiferentes, passivos. Sempre com algo inesperado, contundente, provocador, surpreendente. Ainda bem que "Nascimento, Cópula, Morte" (da maior obra: "A Grande Arte") não é só a história da sua vida. Felizmente, nos intervalos, deixou-nos uma obra extensa, magnífica, do melhor da literatura portuguesa. Este policial tem todas as características do autor. Recomendo muito.

Rubem Fonseca

He was born in Juiz de Fora (Minas Gerais), Brazil, on May 11, 1925. He is one of the most prestigious contemporary Brazilian writers and one of the greatest exponents of Portuguese-language literature. Translated worldwide, he has been awarded six Jabuti Prizes and, for his body of work, the Camões Prize in 2003. In 2015, he received the Machado de Assis Prize from the Brazilian Academy of Letters (ABL).
He is the author of a vast body of narrative work, including short stories and novels, which has been published in Portugal since 2010 by Sextante Editora. His novels... August and The Great Art These are two of his essential works, prime examples of his sober writing and a "hard" realism that became a school of thought in Brazilian literature: "all words must be used," he once said in an interview.
THE Raw Meat — a collection of 26 unpublished short stories, released in Portugal exactly one year ago — which would become his last work, are now joined in the Sextante catalog by the novels The Seminarian, Buffo & Spallanzani (Cinola da Póvoa Literary Prize from Correntes d'Escritas), The Great Art, August and The Savage of the Opera, the short story books Caliber 22, Armpits & Other Indecent Stories, Short Stories and Amalgam, and the childhood autobiography entitled Joseph.
Rubem Fonseca passed away in Rio de Janeiro on April 15, 2020, a victim of a myocardial infarction. After his death, his work was edited... The Molière Patient.
