A escritora Cristina Carvalho nasceu em Lisboa, em 10 de novembro de 1949. É autora de diversos livros, muitos dos quais fazem parte do Plano Nacional de Leitura (PNL) para diferentes graus de ensino. Filha da escritora e tradutora Natália Nunes e do professor e poeta Rómulo de Carvalho/António Gedeão, o seu primeiro livro, Até Já Não é Adeus: (histórias perversas), foi publicado em 1989.
A sua obra abrange vários géneros literários, incluindo romance, romance biográfico, conto e literatura juvenil. Alguns dos seus livros foram traduzidos para várias línguas, como inglês, francês, alemão, espanhol, italiano e, em breve, sueco.
Em 2016, foi galardoada com o Prémio SPA/RTP, na categoria de Literatura para a «melhor ficção narrativa», pelo livro O Olhar e a Alma – Romance de Modigliani. Em 2021, recebeu o Grande Prémio de Literatura Biográfica Miguel Torga APE | CM Coimbra, pelo livro Ingmar Bergman, O Caminho Contra o Vento.
