Foi Juiz Conselheiro e Docente no Centro de Estudos Judiciários, na jurisdição cível (Direito Civil e Comercial e Direito Processual Civil) e Vogal do Conselho Superior da Magistratura.
Foi também Professor convidado da Faculdade de Direito da Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, Membro do Grupo da Coletânea de Jurisprudência, da Associação de Solidariedade Social Casa do Juiz, Colaborador da Revista de Direito da Família; Membro do Conselho Executivo da Secção Portuguesa da Associação Internacional de Direito dos Seguros, Conferencista e Autor de diversos livros e artigos em revistas científicas.
