SOBRE O AUTOR

Karl Ove Knausgård

Karl Ove Knausgård nasceu em Oslo, na Noruega, a 6 de dezembro de 1968 e cresceu em Tromøya e em Kristiansand. Estudou Artes e Literatura na Universidade de Bergen.
Publicou o seu primeiro romance aos 30 anos, Ute av verden, que recebeu o Prémio da Crítica Literária Norueguesa, nunca antes atribuído a uma primeira obra.
No seu segundo romance, En tid for alt (2004), rescreveu fragmentos da Bíblia. O livro foi considerado pelo The New York Review of Books «estranho, irregular e maravilhoso».
No Outono de 2009, Knausgård iniciou um projeto literário singular, a obra autobiográfica A Minha Luta, composta por seis extensos volumes. Com ela obteve vários prémios no seu país, recebeu elogios de escritores e críticos e conquistou centenas de milhares de leitores nas muitas línguas para que foi traduzida.
A Morte do Pai, primeiro volume da série, foi escrito uma década depois de o pai de Karl Ove Knausgård morrer alcoolizado. O autor deambula entre as dúvidas do seu talento, as frustrações atuais e passadas, a descoberta do sexo e do álcool, «essa bebida mágica», e as inseguranças da adolescência e da paternidade.
É o início de uma exploração proustiana do passado e da procura das partículas elementares da sua vida. Knausgård publicou uma coleção de ensaios, Sjelens Amerika, e, em setembro de 2013, adaptou para cinema o seu romance Ute av verden. Criou, entretanto, uma pequena editora.
Vive atualmente em Österlen, na Suécia, em companhia da escritora Linda Boström Knausgård e dos seus quatro filhos.
