SOBRE O AUTOR
Jean-Arthur Rimbaud
De seu nome completo, Jean-Nicolas-Arthur Rimbaud foi um poeta francês nascido a 20 de outubro de 1854 em Charleville, nas Ardenas. Frequentando a escola de província até aos quinze anos de idade, Rimbaud mostrou-se um aluno de capacidades excecionais mas indomáveis. Partindo sozinho, conseguiu chegar à Bélgica aos dezasseis, o que lhe valeu escolta policial até casa. Publicou nesse ano de 1870 o seu primeiro poema e, no seguinte, conhecendo Verlaine, desencaminhou-o para juntos chegarem a Londres e dar início a uma vida de álcool e ópio. Sumo viajante, deambulou mundo fora, aprendeu diversos idiomas e teve ofícios dos mais variados para sobreviver, como o tráfico de armas na Abissínia. Em fevereiro de 1891, em Marselha, começou a sentir fortes dores no joelho esquerdo. Foi-lhe diagnosticado um cancro e a perna teve de ser amputada. Após um período de alucinações e transes, Rimbaud acabou por falecer em Marselha a 10 de novembro de 1891.
