Have you ever felt like you didn't fit in somewhere? At school, with a group of friends, or in your own home? Emily Dickinson's poems got me thinking she was living her own life at her own pace since she isolated herself from society and had very few people she considered close to. Personally, I'm fascinated by her personality because she actually wrote like she lived a full social life; she was clever and very open-minded to their Puritan beliefs. She spent her poetic life questioning the survival of the soul after death, indeed her poems show the struggle between intellect and a necessary faith that placates fears and doubts of an afterlife. Despite my finding the poetry quite complex to understand at certain times, I loved reading it. Emily Dickinson was a fascinating figure and a brilliant poet; she chose to isolate herself from the world but kept observing it, creating unique themed messages. I fell in love with the poetry of Emily Dickinson a while ago. This book holds many of her poems and they are easy to read. The book itself is a nice weight to hold while reading. The poems are simple yet lovely as can be expected from Ms. Dickinson.
