Jonathan Franzen

Jonathan Franzen nasceu em 1959 no Illinois e vive em Nova Iorque. É autor de quatro romances: The Twenty-Seventh City (1988), Strong Motion (1992), Correcções (2001) e Freedom (2010); e de duas obras de não-ficção: How to Be Alone (2002) e The Discomfort Zone (2006). Foi considerado pela Granta e pelo The New Yorker como um dos melhores romancistas norte-americanos com menos de quarenta anos. Poucas obras conseguiram um reconhecimento da crítica e do público tão unânime como Correcções , que teve mais de um milhão de leitores nos Estados Unidos, foi classificado como obra-prima e como «o grande romance do século», conheceu uma difusão internacional sem precedentes com a publicação em quase todas as línguas e um sólido projecto cinematográfico. Com Correcções, Jonathan Franzen obteve ainda o National Book Award 2001 e o James Tait Black Memorial Prize 2002. Em Agosto de 2010, Jonathan Franzen foi capa da revista Time - uma honra que não era concedida a um autor vivo há uma década - com as palavras «O Grande Romancista Americano» em grande destaque.
