Publica regularmente no Guardian Long Read e na revista 1843 da The Economist. Deparou-se com a história de Maurice e Maralyn Bailey na pesquisa para um artigo sobre o nosso desejo de fuga. Náufragos é o seu primeiro livro, tendo recebido por ele o Prémio Nero. Vive em Londres.
