SOBRE O AUTOR
Alba de Céspedes
Alba de Céspedes nasceu em Roma, em 1911. Trabalhou como jornalista e publicou o seu primeiro livro, L’anima degli altri (contos), em 1935, ano em que foi presa pela primeira vez, devido a atividades antifascistas. Em 1938, saiu o seu romance de estreia, Nessuno torna indietro, o qual teve enorme repercussão, acabando por ser banido. Em 1944, fundou a Mercurio, uma revista de política, arte e ciência que se transformou num fórum de debate intelectual, com colaborações de Natalia Ginzburg, Elsa Morante ou Alberto Moravia. Os romances Dalla parte di lei (1949) e O caderno proibido (1952) haveriam de consagrar o seu enorme prestígio e popularidade, em Itália e internacionalmente. Seguiram-se ainda La bambolona (1967) e Nel buio della notte (1976). No pós-guerra, Alba de Céspedes dedicou-se sobretudo à escrita para cinema, teatro, rádio e televisão – colaborou, por exemplo, no guião do filme Le Amiche, de Michelangelo Antonioni. Estabeleceu-se então em Paris onde morreu, em 1997.
