Sem dúvida uma experiência marcante e invulgar para leitores que apreciam ficção científica poética e narrativas centradas nas personagens, em vez de um worldbuilding rigoroso. A prosa é exuberante e o romance central é memorável, mas a densidade das metáforas e o mundo deliberadamente opaco fizeram, por vezes, com que a história parecesse distante em vez de envolvente. Ainda assim, as vozes de Red e Blue são distintas e cativantes, e a ideia de um amor que floresce através de mensagens secretas espalhadas ao longo do tempo é inegavelmente romântica.

E quando damos por ela estamos de lenço na mão a pensar que nunca ninguém nos amou ao ponto de escrever uma carta de amor nos anéis de uma árvore, ao ponto de querer matar todos os poetas para que os seus textos fossem sobre nós. Nem me considero uma pessoa romântica, mas este livro testou a minha identidade.
