ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Daniel Blaufuks

Daniel Blaufuks was born in Lisbon in 1963, into a family of German Jewish refugees. His education was divided between AR.CO, Lisbon, and... Royal College of ArtsLondon, and the Watermill Foundation, New York. Photographer, filmmaker, and visual artist, he has worked on the relationship between photography and literature, through works such as My Tangier, with the writer Paul Bowles. More recently, Collected Short Stories He presented several photographic diptychs, in a kind of "prose of snapshots." The relationship between the public and the private, individual memory and collective memory has, in fact, been one of the constant questions in his work. He mainly uses photography and video, presenting the result through books, installations, and films. The documentary "Under Strange Skies" It has been regularly featured around the world, notably in PhotoSpain (Madrid), where the book "Under Strange Skies" He received the award for best international edition of the year in 2007. In the same year, he was awarded the BES Photo Prize. He is the image director of the literary magazine. Granta In Portuguese, responsible for selecting the photographers for each new edition.
