ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Thich Nhat Hanh

Thích Nhat Hanh (October 11, 1926 – January 22, 2022) was a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, pacifist, writer, and poet.
He was a global spiritual leader, Zen master, poet and peace activist, respected around the world for his powerful teachings and example of life. His key teaching lies in the belief that, through mindfulness, we can live fully in the present moment, and that this is, in fact, the only way to develop peace, both in ourselves and in the world.
A pioneer in bringing mindfulness to the West, he survived three wars, persecution and more than 30 years of exile, and founded six monasteries and dozens of mindfulness practice centers around the world. He wrote more than a hundred books of poetry, fiction and philosophy, and was proposed for the Nobel Peace Prize by Martin Luther King, who called him the "apostle of peace and nonviolence".
Thich Nhat Hanh lived in France, near Bordeaux, in a Buddhist monastery he founded called Plum Village, which is also a meditation center.
