Mariana Mazzucato é professora no University College London, onde também fundou e dirige o Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose. É consultora de governantes em todo o mundo, a quem ensina a promover a inovação de maneira a produzir um crescimento mais inclusivo e sustentável. Foi autora do influente relatório «Mission-Oriented Research & Innovation in the European Union», que fez da «missão» um novo e crucial instrumento do Horizonte, o programa europeu de inovação.
