ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Isabel Mateus

Transmontana de nascimento, Isabel Maria Fidalgo Mateus é uma escritora portuguesa radicada no Reino Unido desde 2001.
Contando já com uma vasta obra, a autora é mais conhecida por abordar temáticas que incidem sobre a ruralidade e a diáspora. Em 2011, o seu livro de contos da infância rural O Trigo dos Pardais foi incluído no Plano Nacional de Leitura.
Já o livro A Terra do Chiculate - Relatos da Emigração Portuguesa teve tradução francesa, em 2015. Contos do Portugal Rural existe em inglês e chinês, e o O Trigo dos Pardais possui uma versão chinesa.

Tendo-se licenciado em Português-Francês Via Ensino na Universidade de Évora, lecionou em Portugal durante 10 anos. Posteriormente, obteve o grau de doutora em Literatura Portuguesa pela Universidade de Birmingham, onde ensinou Língua e Literatura. Em seguida, conciliou ainda o ensino do Português na Universidade de Liverpool com a escrita ficcional e a investigação. Na atualidade, dedica-se exclusivamente ao velho sonho da escrita.
