Luísa Ducla Soares

Luísa Ducla Soares is one of the most important Portuguese writers of children's and young adult literature, in prose and poetry, having published 190 works to date, some of which have won awards and been translated. Her humor, combined with fantasy and... nonsenseThis constitutes one of the author's distinctive trademarks. Throughout her professional career she has worked as a translator, collaborated with various newspapers and magazines, and written scripts for television series.
She worked for 30 years at the National Library, where she was responsible for the Research and Bibliographic Information Area. There, she developed projects focused on the history of children's literature in Portugal and organized various exhibitions and catalogs on the subject.
Aware of the importance of direct contact with younger audiences in promoting reading, she participated in cultural outreach and animation projects in schools and libraries, also producing various selective publications of national and international children's literature.
