The author’s biographical note is supposed to make it pretty clear why he was led to write this book in a language almost completely foreign to his everyday world. This book is the offspring of two different states of mind; initially, in the spring of 2020, the purpose was to overcome the boresome loneliness of the confinement imposed by the widespread pandemic; and thus an argumentative essay was constructed, titled — in a rather technical style: The exact trianglature of the semicircle in the 20th century USA — and eventually uploaded, as a critical paper, on the Academia.edu internet platform.

Then suddenly, last autumn, the surprising news that a pirated edition of this article was being sold in Central Europe (in Germany and Switzerland, at least) in e-book format, seemingly an auspicious omen, rang a bell: the main project was feasible.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Carlos Correia de Matos

O autor nasceu em 1944 em Viana do Castelo, cidade aonde regressou há cerca de dez anos, depois de ter vivido fora a maior parte da sua vida adulta. Tem formação académica superior em Economia, Direito e Estudos Europeus.
Como trabalhador por conta de outrem, foi perito contabilista na Previdência Social, inspetor e economista bancário e diretor administrativo e financeiro de duas grandes empresas do setor público; como trabalhador independente, credenciou-se, sucessivamente, como consultor económico-financeiro empresarial, revisor oficial de contas e advogado.
Em 1995, por defender a advocacia liberal consagrada em tratados internacionais a que Portugal aderiu pomposamente, foi suspenso pelo Conselho Geral da Ordem dos Advogados, através de um ato de abuso de poder; o caso ainda se arrasta pelos tribunais administrativos. Esta vilania palaciana teve efeitos devastadores, que perduram, em toda a sua atividade profissional e não só.
Em 2002 escreveu um livro sobre, essencialmente, o mesmo tema de fundo, Ele Não Pode Falar!. Continua convencido de que justiça será feita...!
