ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Irvin D. Yalom

Irvin D. Yalom was born in Washington, D.C., on June 13, 1931. His parents emigrated from Russia shortly after World War I. When he chose to study medicine, feeling closer to Dostoevsky or Tolstoy, he already had psychiatry in mind. He became a psychotherapist and Professor Emeritus at Stanford University. He found refuge in fiction and currently holds numerous academic and literary titles.
