«A publicação de Cross Media Arts, Artes Sociais e Transdisciplinaridade resultou da necessidade de diagnosticar, à escala internacional, a relevância que a arte com uma dimensão de intervenção social, nas suas diferentes manifestações, tem assumido como dispositivo de reflexão e ação crítica na contemporaneidade. Esta foi uma necessidade identificada na sequência da realização da XMEDIA ARTS 2016, a 1ª Conferência Internacional de Artes Sociais e Transdisciplinaridade, realizada em Évora nos dias 24 e 25 de Junho, justificando-se assim a proximidade do título e a partilha dos autores. o presente volume assume-se como momento de fixação desse diagnóstico e ponto de partida para a construção de um conhecimento propositivo que contribua para ações futuras.»

«The publication of Cross Media Arts, Social Arts and Transdisciplinarity resulted from the need to diagnose, on an international scale, the relevance that art with a dimension of social intervention, in its different manifestations, has assumed as a device for reflection and critical action in contemporary times. This was a need identified following the XMEDIA ARTS 2016, the 1st International Conference of Social Arts and Transdisciplinarity, held in Evora on June 24 and 25, thus justifying the title and the sharing of authors. The present volume assumes as a moment of fixing this diagnosis and starting point for the construction of a propositional knowledge that contributes to future actions.»
