The closest Einstein ever came to writing an autobiography, this account is primarily concerned with the development of his ideas, saying little about his private life. It presents his "epistemological credo" and the development of his special and general theories of relativity.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Albert Einstein

Considered the founder of modern physics, Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879, in Ulm, Germany. He received his doctorate from the University of Zurich in 1905. His scientific papers on the photoelectric effect, Brownian motion, special relativity, and mass-energy equivalence (E = mc2) would become foundational landmarks of modern physics.
In 1916, he published in German. Relativity: Special Theory and General Theory, a work that would be translated into English in 1920. In 1921, Einstein was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to theoretical physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect." Einstein died on April 18, 1955, at the age of 76, in Princeton, New Jersey (USA).
