De entre as revoadas de pássaros de arribação que são as histórias de tradição oral, vieram habitar este livro sessenta e quatro contos e lendas timorenses. Foram recolhidos em Oecusse nos meses de Junho e Julho de 2017, das bocas e vozes de numerosos timorenses de várias idades e profissões.

As histórias tradicionais que circulam no enclave, isolado do resto de Timor-Leste pelo mar e pela terra indonésia, deixam imediatamente antever como tem sido lugar de convergência de gentes e de povos, de línguas e culturas, essa tigela de terra timorense.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Anabela Leal de Barros

Anabela Leal de Barros was born in Vila Real in 1967. She is a professor in the Department of Portuguese and Lusophone Studies at the University of Minho and a researcher at the Centre for Humanistic Studies since 1995. From 1991 to 1995 she was a professor at the University of Macau, Institute of Portuguese Studies. She holds a PhD in Portuguese Linguistics from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon (2008), and a Master's degree in Historical Linguistics, Romance Linguistics and Textual Criticism from the same institution (2000). She develops her research and teaching in the fields of Historical Linguistics, History of the Portuguese Language, Philology, Ecdotics and Applied Linguistics, areas to which most of her published books and scientific articles refer. She dedicates herself to the editing and study of Portuguese Baroque poetry from the manuscript tradition, as well as codices from various periods and fields, especially the History of Food, Medicine, Music, Law and Economics; from Landscape Archaeology; Linguistic Historiography and Missionary Linguistics. In addition to the manuscript tradition, since 2002 he has dedicated himself to the collection and editing of Timorese oral tradition literature and to the diachronic study of Timorese Portuguese, having already published seven books of tales and legends from Timor-Leste.
