Manuel Gomes de Araújo

Manuel Gomes de Araújo was born in Maliana, East Timor, in 1957. He holds a Master's degree in Teacher Training - Portuguese Language from the University of East Timor/University of Minho (2015), a postgraduate degree in Teacher Training - Portuguese Language from the National Institute for Teacher and Education Professional Training - INFORDEPE/University of Minho (2013), and a Bachelor's degree in Education (2010). He was a combatant in the East Timor liberation struggle and a primary school teacher (1984-1995), and has been an employee of the Ministry of Education since 1995. In this capacity, he held the positions of School Director (1992 to 1995); Section Head (1995-1999); and Municipal Education Director (2000-2008). National Director of Secondary Education (2016-2020) and President of INFORDEPE (2021-2023).
