ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Toni Morrison

Toni Morrison (1931-2019) was born in Lorain, Ohio. Throughout her career, she alternated her teaching work at Princeton University with her literary work. Her novels address the problems faced by the Black population in the United States, especially the situation of women. She is the author of, among many other works, The Gift, Home is where the heart is. and God Help the Child, published in Portugal by Editorial Presença. She has been awarded numerous literary prizes, most notably the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize in Literature. She was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama, the highest civilian honor in the United States of America.
