ABOUT THE AUTHOR

W. S. Merwin

William Stanley Merwin foi um autor norte-americano nascido a 20 de setembro de 1927, em Nova Iorque. Um dos mais importantes poetas de língua inglesa do nosso tempo, Merwin foi também um exímio tradutor, ecologista e antibelicista. Duas vezes poeta laureado dos EUA, ganhou os prémios National Book Award e duas vezes o Pulitzer. Em 1976, mudou-se para o Havai, onde combateu pela preservação da floresta tropical. Aí morreu, a 15 de março de 2019.
