Bernard Stiegler é um dos mais destacados pensadores franceses da actualidade. Doutorado em filosofia pela École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, é director do departamento de desenvolvimento cultural do Centro Georges Pompidou em Paris, presidente e dinamizador da associação internacional Ars Industrialis e professor convidado em várias universidades.
Com mais de trinta livros publicados e traduzidos em diversas línguas, interessa-se sobretudo pelos impactos culturais e políticos das tecnologias e do capitalismo hiperindustrial nas sociedades contemporâneas.
