ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Tom Percival

Tom Percival had an unconventional childhood in a remote part of South Shropshire. His family had to leave their home and lived in a caravan for six years. Everything seemed VERY real at night, in a drafty caravan, without television or electricity, where light came from kerosene lamps hanging on the walls, lit with a match. They drank water they fetched from a spring, and in the cold winter, ice formed on the headboard of the bed. These were formative years, and through books and drawing, he found his inspiration and the comfort to dream. Perhaps that's why he started writing his own stories – stories in which children who don't have the same luck or opportunities as others are ignored and rejected by society, and this was the author's way of telling them: 'Yes, you belong here.' He currently lives in Gloucestershire with his wife and two children. Tom has been drawing since he could hold a pencil and inventing stories for as long as he can remember.
