This book presents a comparative study of the locative constituents used in existential constructions: il y a in French, hay in Spanish, and cè in Italian. The first part discusses their role from a morphological, discursive, semantic, and syntactic point of view. The second part analyzes the syntactic and discursive behavior of different semantic types of locatives in a large textual corpus.
