ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Michel Serres
Michel Serres nasceu a 1 de setembro de 1930, em Agen, França. Frequentou a Escola Naval e, posteriormente, a Escola Normal Superior de Paris, onde se graduou em Matemática, Letras e Filosofia. Foi oficial da Marinha francesa antes de se tornar professor universitário. Doutorou-se em Letras em 1968. Durante a década de 60, ensinou nas Universidades de Clermont-Ferrand e Vincennes e, mais tarde, foi nomeado para dar aulas de História da Ciência na Sorbonne, onde ainda leciona. Também é professor titular da Universidade de Stanford desde 1984. Membro da Academia Francesa desde 1990, é autor de numerosos ensaios. Pensador de grande originalidade, rompe com o desconstrucionismo, preferindo um pensamento de índole mais analítica e pragmática do que abstrata. É um dos raros filósofos contemporâneos a propor uma visão do mundo que associa as ciências e a cultura. Pela Guerra e Paz, publicou os ensaios: Antes É que Era Bom! e Tempo de Crises.
Faleceu no dia 1 de junho de 2019, aos 88 anos.
