ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Witold Gombrowicz
Witold Gombrowicz nasceu em 1904, na Polónia. Em 1939, o estalar da Segunda Guerra Mundial surpreendeu-o durante uma viagem à Argentina e decidiu permanecer em Buenos Aires até que a guerra acabasse. De facto, viriam a passar 24 anos até que abandonasse a Argentina, em 1963, altura em que recebeu uma bolsa da Fundação Ford para viver um ano em Berlim. Após o término da bolsa, mudou-se para Vence, no Sul de França, e aí viveu até ao final da sua vida, em 1969.
Autor de cinco romances, três peças de teatro, um livro de contos e das cerca de setecentas páginas dos seus Diários, Gombrowicz é considerado uma das figuras mais proeminentes da literatura polaca.
Pornografia, o seu terceiro romance, publicado em França, em 1960, ainda durante o seu exílio na Argentina, foi considerada uma obra inaudita e depressa se tornou um clássico da literatura erótica.
