Motores de búsqueda, teléfonos inteligentes, aplicaciones, redes sociales: la tecnología digital ha entrado en nuestra vida cotidiana no solo como una herramienta externa que simplifica la comunicación y la relación con el mundo, sino como un espacio antropológico nuevo que cambia nuestra forma de pensar y de conocer la realidad, así como las relaciones humanas. ¿Toca la revolución digital de alguna manera la fe? ¿Cómo debe pensar y enunciar el cristianismo este nuevo paisaje? Según Spadaro, es momento de considerar la posibilidad de una ciberteología, entendida como comprensión de la fe ùintellectus fideiù en tiempos de la red. No se trata de buscar nuevos instrumentos de evangelización o de emprender una reflexión sociológica sobre la religiosidad en la red, sino de encontrar puntos de contacto y de interacción fructífera con el pensamiento cristiano. El objetivo es «no detenerse ante los prodigios de la técnica [à] evitar la ingenuidad de creer que [las tecnologías] están a nuestra disposición sin que modifiquen en absoluto nuestro modo de percibir la realidad. La tarea de la Iglesia, como la de todas las distintas comunidades eclesiales, es acompañar al hombre en su camino, y la red forma parte integrante del recorrido humano de un modo irreversible». Esta obra es parte de un ecosistema de reflexiones en el que conviven pontífices como Juan Pablo II y Benedicto XVI, teólogos como Tomás de Aquino y Teilhard de Chardin, poetas como Walt Whitman y T. S. Eliot, el jazz, Marshall McLuhan y la ética hacker. Spadaro ha buscado socializar el debate con el blog Cyberteologia.it, la página en Facebook Cybertheology, una cuenta en Twitter (@antoniospadaro) y otras iniciativas. Antonio Spadaro (Mesina, 1966) es un jesuita italiano que dirige la revista La Civiltà Cattolica y ejerce la docencia en la Pontificia Universidad Gregoriana, donde se doctoró en Teología. Es asimismo consultor del Consejo Pontificio de la Cultura y del Pontificio Consejo paras las Comunicaciones Sociales. Ha escrito varias obras sobre cultura contemporánea, entre las que destacan los ensayos dedicados a internet Connessioni. Nuove forme della cultura al tempo di Internet y Web 2.0. Reti di relazione. Muy activo en redes sociales, fundó en 1998 uno de los primeros sitios italianos de escritura creativa, Bombacarta.it, y, desde 2011, es autor del blog Cyberteologia.it (Premio WeCa 2012).

Antonio Spadaro

Antonio Spadaro (Messina, July 6, 1966) is an Italian Jesuit priest, writer, and theologian, editor of the magazine Catholic Civilization.

He graduated in philosophy in 1988 from the University of Messina, shortly after entering the novitiate of the Society of Jesus. On December 21, 1996, he was ordained a priest, and on May 24, 2007, he took his solemn vows in the Society of Jesus. He obtained a degree in Fundamental Theology, a master's degree in Social Communication, and a doctorate in Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University. He completed his formation in the United States, in the Jesuit Province in Chicago, between 2002 and 2003.

In 1994, she began writing for the magazine. Catholic CivilizationIn 1998, he definitively joined the editorial team. He specializes in literary criticism, especially of contemporary Italian authors (Cesare Pavese, Alda Merini, Giorgio Bassani, Mario Luzi, Pier Vittorio Tondelli, ...) and American writers (from classic authors like Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson, to Flannery O'Connor, Jack London, and more contemporary authors like Jack Kerouac, Raymond Carver, among others). He is a literary theorist. He also discusses music (Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Nick Drake, Nick Cave, ...), art (Mark Rothko, Edward Hopper, Andy Warhol, Basquiat, ...), films, and how new communication technologies impact the way we think and live (especially Wikipedia, Second Life, digital reading, social networks, hacker philosophy, cybertheology...).

In 1998, he founded Letter Bomb, a cultural project that coordinates creative writing, video production, and reading initiatives online, with the participation of authors from various Italian cities. He is the editor of the poetry series. L'Oblò delle edizioni AncoraSince 2002, he has taught at the Interdisciplinary Center for Social Communication (CICS) of the Pontifical Gregorian University. In 2008, he became head of the Scientific Committee. "La sfida e l'esperienza", which brings together teachers and managers interested in issues of spirituality and innovation. From 2004 to 2009, she was responsible for coordinating the cultural activities of the Society of Jesus in Italy.

In September 2009, he became rector of the Jesuit community of the magazine. Catholic CivilizationOn September 6, 2011, his appointment as editor of the magazine was announced. In the October 1, 2011 issue, the magazine published an article in which he discussed his new role as editor.

Spadaro's online presence consists of social media accounts, a personal website, and two blogs, one dedicated to cybertheology and the other to the American writer Flannery O'Connor.
