This book is a concise history of education in Greece. The description starts from the Mycenaean and Minoan periods and goes up to the present day. Since many authors have written extensively on the history of education in ancient Greece, the book does not focus on that but on the so-called Byzantine and Modern Greek history of education (i.e., the period from 330 AD to the present). Since many aspects of the history of modern Greece are not generally known, additional reference is made to individuals and events that have marked it.
