At the four-year, four-month mark, Candalada feels confident enough to lower her guard with an incompatible man, which leads to a significant regression in her growth. She realizes that her self-imposed isolation has left her unprepared for the scrutiny of men who exploit vulnerabilities. Facing this mental setback, Candalada seeks help beyond traditional talk therapy. She assembles a custom healing team to rebuild an intuitive version of herself unburdened by past experiences. The book offers a transparent account of this process, detailing how addressing her inner child ultimately makes her a more emotionally healthy adult.

 Candalada is the founder of Hair Therapy, a beauty consulting company. She is a former instructor of Business Communication at Shenandoah University's School of Business and has more than ten years of digital media experience. She obtained her Bachelor's in Mass Communication, with a concentration in Media Studies and a minor in Business Administration at Shenandoah University. She attended Trinity Washington University for a Master's in Mass Communications with a concentration in Political Rhetoric.

Former President Barack Obama presented the President's Volunteer Service Award to Candalada for her special service commitment to economic opportunity. She was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and born to parents from Guyana, South America. Candalada lives in Northern Virginia with her son.
