Nascido em Bragança, manifesta sempre a sua origem transmontana. Percorrendo a inventariação das tradições portuguesas, ou «à portuguesa», continua a escrever de forma descontraída e prática. Das aulas de História da Alimentação às várias palestras que profere, reserva sempre tempo para as suas crónicas sobre curiosidades em viagem ou aspetos interessantes relativos a hábitos alimentares. É investigador do Projeto DIAITA - Património Alimentar da Lusofonia.
