Manuel Jorge Marmelo nasceu em 1971, na cidade do Porto.
Estreou-se na literatura em 1996 e publicou, de então para cá, em Portugal e não só, romances, crónicas, contos e livros infantis, destacando-se os romances Uma Mentira Mil Vezes Repetida, editado em 2011, que conquistou o prestigiado Prémio Literário Casino da Póvoa/Correntes d'Escritas 2014; Macaco Infinito, de 2016; Somos Todos Um Bocado Ciganos, de 2012; e o livro O Silêncio de um Homem Só, distinguido em 2005 com o Grande Prémio do Conto Camilo Castelo Branco. O romance O Tempo Morto É Um Bom Lugar, de 2014, foi um dos três finalistas do Livro do Ano da Time Out Lisboa.
