Engenheiro, Licenciado, Doutorado e Agregado em Engenharia Civil pelo IST, sendo atualmente investigador do LNEC.
Exerceu atividade docente na Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade Católica, onde foi Professor Associado convidado.
Tem participado em numerosas conferências e encontros científicos, nacionais e internacionais, e tem ministrado, e organizado, múltiplas ações de formação avançada em Acústica.
Faz ainda parte do corpo de oradores convidados em cursos de mestrado e de programas doutorais de universidades nacionais.
É Presidente da Sociedade Portuguesa de Acústica e da Federação Ibero-Americana de Acústica, sendo também membro da Comissão de Especialização em Engenharia Acústica da Ordem dos Engenheiros.
