Jorge M. Fernandes é Ramón y Cajal research fellow no Institute of Public Goods and Policies, CSIC, Madrid. Doutorou-se em Ciências Sociais e Políticas no Instituto Universitário Europeu em Florença, em 2013. Os seus interesses de investigação incluem a representação, os sistemas eleitorais, os partidos políticos, os parlamentos e as coligações. O seu trabalho tem sido publicado em revistas académicas como The Journal of Politics, Comparative Political Studies, European Journal of Political Research, Political Behavior, Legislative Studies Quarterly, Party Politics, entre muitas outras. É coeditor do livro The Politics of Legislative Debates (Oxford University Press, 2021). Foi investigador visitante na Universidade da Califórnia e na Universidade de Harvard.
