João Varela

João Varela é investigador em LIP. Doutorou-se me Física em 1984 na École Polytechnique em Paris. Participou no processo de adesão de Portugal ao CERN e na criação do LIP em 1986 de que foi co-diretor até 1993. Entre 1993 e 2019 foi investigador no CERN e no LIP. Em 2012-13 foi deputy spokesperson da experiência CMS, que em 2013 recebeu o prémio da European Physics Society pela descoberta do bosão de Higgs.
