Maria Isabel R. T. Soares é Professora Catedrática da Faculdade de Economia da Universidade do Porto (FEP). É doutora em Economia pela Universidade Louis Pasteur, de Strasbourg e tem um Post-Doc. no VPI – Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Tem participado em diversos cursos de Mestrado, Doutoramento e Pós-Graduações em várias Universidades nacionais e estrangeiras, além da sua atividade na FEP. Tem cerca de 80 títulos publicados em revistas científicas nacionais e internacionais e é autora ou coautora de diversos livros editados internacionalmente. Desenvolve, desde 1989, intensa atividade de consultoria.
