Armando Silva Carvalho nasceu em Olho Marinho, Óbidos, em 1938. Licenciado em Direito pela Universidade de Lisboa, exerceu advocacia por pouco tempo, optando pelo jornalismo, pelo ensino, pela publicidade e pela tradução.
A sua obra tem vindo a ser reconhecida pela crítica e distinguida com diversos prémios, como o Grande Prémio de Poesia APE, o Prémio PEN Clube, o Prémio Fernando Namora, o Grande Prémio DST Literatura e o Prémio Casino da Póvoa / Correntes d’Escritas, para citar apenas alguns.
