Escritora, feminista e ativista republicana, nasceu em 1872 e morreu em 1935. É considerada a fundadora da literatura infantil no nosso país. Escreveu alguns livros que foram utilizados como manuais escolares e publicou ainda uma obra marcante na sua época, a coleção Para as Crianças, que lhe ocupou perto de quatro décadas de trabalho. Outros títulos dignos de realce são A Minha Pátria, As Mulheres Portuguesas (em que alia o feminismo a uma postura patriótica) e A Mulher no Casamento e no Divórcio (uma tomada de posição sobre a problemática do divórcio, que seria objeto de legislação por parte de Afonso Costa, e em que colaboraria). Ana de Castro Osório criou ainda a Liga Republicana das Mulheres Portuguesas.
