Alberto Franco nasceu em Lisboa, em 1962. Como jornalista freelancer, publicou reportagens no Público, Expresso, Diário de Notícias, Diário do Alentejo, A Outra Margem, Imenso Sul e Memória Alentejana. É autor de uma dezena de livros em áreas como a história (A Voz do Operário: 135 Anos; A Planície: Uma Voz na Década do Silêncio; A Revolução É a Minha Namorada: Memória de António Gonçalves Correia, Anarquista Alentejano; O Homem que Matou Sidónio Paes, em coautoria), a gastronomia (Fialho: Gastronomia Alentejana; Porco Alentejano: O Senhor do Montado) e a arte tauromáquica (Campo Pequeno: Crónica da Monumental de Lisboa; José Júlio: Vida e Tauromaquia). Escreve letras para fado, expressão do seu interesse por este género musical, que o presente livro também testemunha.
