Alastair Campbell nasceu em Yorkshire em 1957. Estudou Línguas e Literaturas Modernas em Cambridge e começou a sua carreira no Jornalismo. Quando Tony Blair se tornou presidente do Partido Trabalhista, convidou-o para ser seu secretário de imprensa. Mais tarde foi seu porta-voz oficial e depois director de comunicação e estratégia, tendo trabalhado com Blair entre 1994-2003. Agora é presidente da Leukaemia Research, e dedica-se à escrita.
