The question that arises is how the IRCR exercises its independence, impartiality, and neutrality to try to protect detainees, displaced and starving civilians, and families separated by conflict. After a brief presentation of the ICRC in this introduction, the argument presented along with its ethnography form the main body of this thesis and consist of a source-based examination of both the ethos and dynamics of the ICRC. Using their values and work, a critical discussion can then be conducted that relates to the research question. The first part of the term paper deals with the concept of hybridity by Homi K. Bhabha and Sten Pultz Moslund. Afterwards, the second part will focus on the narrative level in the writing of Yunior. The arguments will be based on a close look at the novel and the theories about cultural hybridity. Finally, the results of the chapters will be summarized to show and prove the hybrid point of view of the novel. The highly acclaimed novel was published in 2007 and won, among others, the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction 2008. It tells thestory of Oscar, a Dominican-American boy, who grows up in the immigrant neighborhood of Paterson, New Jersey, influenced by U.S. society, the diaspora, and Dominican culture. The mainconflict of the novel takes place between Oscar and the world. As an overweight, brown-skinned, fantasy-loving boy, Oscar tries to find a sense of love and affiliation in asociety that mostly rejects him. However, the novel focuses not only on Oscar's life butit also deals with the history of three generations of families, all of whom struggle withtheir identities. The narration of the story effectively captures diasporic identity because of the narrative style in the novel. The English language is interspersed with Spanishcolloquialisms. This hybridity of language reflects the world of the Caribbean, which shaped the author and, as it were, his characters. Hence, the 'in-betweenness' represents an important part of the book. The narrative style, namely the usage of Spanglish, also reflects in a certain way the own cultural identitysince language can reflect a person's self-perception as well as their world view. Furthermore, these two languages represent both countries and cultures that are relevantto the characters of the novel and their identity. In addition to the use of multiplelanguages, Diaz's fiction deploys a range of different registers.

No wonder! For the singer chose songs for her audience that reminded them of the "fatherland" Serbia and of times gone by - excitingly, of the times before the fusion of the Slavic peoples in the Balkans, i.e. the Kingdom of Serbia, of the time of the disintegration of Yugoslavia, as well as of the war in 1990s: specifically the "Kosovo war". The young singer sang her songs heartfully and a strong voice she must have had singing lessons from a very young age, as for her loud and full mezzosoprano, one should have a technic of a professional. The audience could clearly hear the singer's pride in her own performance. The audience applauded and cheered the young singer. In the euphoria that hovered in the air, the audience waited for the next song. But the singer had something else in mind. To put it briefly: to criticise. After introducing herself, she began her speech: "I am proud to be here with you and to preserve Serbian culture - I also do that at home in Orahovac. My homeland, my culture and thus my identity are very important to me and I do everything in my power to preserve them. With my actions, I do not give my Kosovo into the hands of others, because Kosovo is Serbia.

However, the Afrofuturistic message of a future in which Black people use technology to become leaders is disappointingly scarce. It was not until recently (2018) that Black futurism in the mainstream has attracted eminent attention by the release of Marvel's 'Black Panther', the first mega-budget film directed and co-written by African Americans, with a Black hero, and predominantly Black cast. But how does 'Black Panther' invite a reimagining of Blackness to the mainstream media? In this paper, I argue that the film 'Black Panther' brought a movement to the mainstream media by creating an alternative to colonialism and exploring an Afrofuturistic narrative of a country that had never been colonized and oppressed. To understand Afrofuturistic themes in 'Black Panther', corresponding aspects in the film were analyzed. An underlying objective of this investigation was to emphasize the importance of films influencing the public perception with empowered and positive portrayals of the Black future.

Thereupon I want to present the methods and findings of my research following the guideline question: How do religious actors in Germany and Indonesia connect their belief with medical action against the Covid-19 pandemic?, focusing on Christian actors in Germany. Toward the end of 2019, a tiny entity given the name SARS-CoV-2, overpowered the world with a relentless ferocity that sharply exposed the vulnerability of modern human civilization. A belief in the superiority of our species, in the progressiveness of modern social systems, in the achievements in technology and medicine, could not save us from the power of one of nature s most miniscule members". With the ongoing spread and unpredictable mutation of the COVID-19 virus, a global war has been declared on something biologically not even classified as a living being, and states mobilize all resources to regain control. This invisible agent challenges our personal lives and state action just as much as the postulated separation between humanity and nature . Not only must we acknowledge the virus as a more-than-human global actor in contrast to humans as being the only forceful agents acting upon a passive world , its assumed origin in zoonosis also marks a point of fusion between human and non-human realms, and therefore can be seen as a reinforcement of entanglement that transcends nature/culture dichotomy.

Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate how the gaming community is structured, where the dominant culture positions it and how members themselves perceive their social role. This paper starts off to theoretically examine how social groups work by using subcultural theories, which include Ken Gelder's six criteria of subcultures, to lay the groundwork for better understanding the video game culture and how one can approach it (3). As stated in the very beginning, the community that plays video games is enormously large. That is why a closer look will be taken on the term gamer, to comprehend to whom it refers. The central task of this paper lies in the two-part analysis. Firstly, supported by the evaluations of the mainstream press, the external perspective from the dominant culture on the social group of gamers is being captured and discussed. Secondly, an examination of internal communication on the online gaming platform Twitch shall gain insight into the mindset of a gamer which is subsequently interpreted. Finally, this study contrasts the results of both perspectives and evaluates them to one conclusion. The gaming branch has been exploding in the last decades like no other. While in the beginning, gaming was something practised by a small marginal group that possessed a computer and fully understood how to use it, a whole culture emerged in the last years. As the 2020 Global Games Market Report states, there are 2.7 billion people all over the world playing video games, and it is expected to grow up to 3.2 billion in 2023. Still, it does not feel right to reveal to be a passionate gaming fan when introducing oneself to one s parents-in-law while admitting to being a football fan is relatively unproblematic.
