Alessandro Baricco
Alessandro Baricco nasceu em Turim, em 1958, e a sua estreia na literatura deu-se aos 33 anos com o romance Castelos de Raiva.
O seu primeiro bestseller internacional, Seda (Dom Quixote, 2007) foi traduzido para várias línguas e os seis romances que escreveu ganharam inúmeros prémios literários, incluindo o Prix Médicis Étrangér, em França.
Sucesso de crítica e público, a sua obra é apelidada de «pós-moderna», expressão com múltiplas interpretações e que é, talvez, pequena para um autor que já marcou um espaço de destaque no universo da literatura mundial. Talvez por procurar uma intensidade na sua relação com os leitores, Baricco é hoje em dia um dos autores preferidos pelas camadas mais jovens.
A criação literária de Baricco é bastante diversificada, abrangendo peças de teatro, ensaios, coletâneas de artigos, entre outros. É ainda autor dos romances Oceano Mar, City, Sem Sangue (Dom Quixote, 2003) e de Esta História (Dom Quixote, 2008).
