'The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried.' First published in 1910, What's Wrong with the World is a brilliantly funny collection of essays that incisively investigate the various ills of society and the world at large. Examining several social and political trends of the time, Chesterton discusses contemporary discourse around family, gender roles, education, politics and more. In good humour, he defends the traditional family unit, praises women's unique role in society and promotes an education that can be both creative and moral in its teachings. He scrutinises the forces of modernity, bureaucracy and ideological reform, spiritedly arguing that the problem is not the structural powers at play in society, but the individual's failure to act rightly. Compelling and easily digestible, these essays cement Chesterton as a master of wit and social critique. This audiobook edition is brilliantly read by Malk Williams. Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874 - 1936) was an English novelist, philosopher, journalist and critic. A Christian apologist, he is famed for creating the fictional priest-detective Father Brown. His writing was also renowned for his sense of humour: known as 'the prince of paradox', Chesterton often turned common sayings upside down. Admired by several of his literary contemporaries, Chesterton's work is still widely read today.

SOBRE O AUTOR

G.K. Chesterton
